Amazon Business Account

Overview

Prior to accessing Amazon Business for the first time, the user must contact the iBuy Helpdesk at [email protected] for a login invite. If you need to request access to multiple vendor accounts, you would check the box for "Amazon Business" on the Vendor Account Access Request form. Through this central Amazon Business account, you will have access to: Free shipping on all Amazon Prime-eligible items at no extra cost (no individual prime account needed); Automatic sales tax exemption on exemption-eligible items sold by Amazon.com LLC and accepting resellers; Business pricing and quantity discounts; and, The George Washington University’s Amazon Business account is limited to those individuals approved to use a Purchasing Card for the purchase of goods/services on behalf of the University. The Amazon Business account is for business purposes only. No personal purchases are to be made through this account.

How to Enroll

Initial Requirements for P-Card Holders

Prior to registering for the University’s Amazon Business account, Purchasing Card holders are required to:

  • Use their University email addresses for the University's Amazon Business account. It is essential to maintain a separate account for personal purchases and not use an Amazon account established with a University email address for personal purchases.
  • Transfer personal Amazon accounts associated with University email addresses to personal email addresses before participants respond to the invitation to join the University's Amazon business account.

Process for P-Card Holders

You will receive an email invitation directly from Amazon Business to join GW's Amazon Business account. P-Card holders must fulfill the initial requirements previously mentioned above prior to accepting the invitation. P-card holders authorized to use GW's Amazon Business account are required to:

  • Request an invitation to join the GW Amazon Business Account by emailing [email protected].
  • Accept the invitation sent directly from Amazon Business. DO NOT CREATE YOUR OWN ACCOUNT.
  • P-Cardholders must utilize their P-Card for Amazon Business purchases made on behalf of GW. No other payment methods are permitted for Amazon Business purchases.

Obtaining Access to a P-Card for Use with an Amazon Business Account

If you would like to obtain a GW Amazon Business Account logon to make GW purchases, but do not have a P-card, several options are available. A P-card must be used for all purchases through the account.

  • Obtain access to use your departmental P-card.
  • Request a departmental P-card holder to make the purchase.
  • Obtain a P-card.

Shipping

Purchases from third-party sellers may be taxed if the seller has not opted in for tax exemption in AMAZON through the University’s Amazon Business account. In the event that an Amazon seller charges sales tax, the department can request a refund by completing the Tax Exemption certificate.

Return Instructions

Amazon Business users are able to initiate returns, where eligible, from the Your Orders page of their accounts. If they have difficulty initiating a return, or if the return window has passed, they can reach out to Amazon Business Customer Service to request assistance.
